Delivering prosperity is not new to Yara. In fact, it is one of our strongest achievements. Together, we have year after year delivered prosperity for our shareholders, employees, and customers.
Extending Deep Care to our Communities
Farmers feed the world with the support of companies such as ours. As an organization that has always extended deep care to the communities with which we work, we acknowledge that we are uniquely positioned at the crossroads of agriculture, society and the economy. Prudent stewardship of this position can facilitate powerful impact for stakeholders in the agri-space and spur progressive food systems transformation.
Yara will achieve her ambition to ‘Grow a Nature-Positive Food Future’ by actioning three key focus areas: Climate neutrality, Regenerative Farming, and Prosperity. On the back of this new ambition, the company has the commitment to advance prosperity for 50 M farmers by 2030.
Inspired by the company’s bold direction, the Yara Africa & Asia business created a social impact framework 2030 with more granular targets on inclusive prosperity. The social impact strategy embraces two ecosystem frames – United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and Country-level policies is and leverages two foundational pillars – the YAA Strategy and Yara Digital Solutions.
Our efforts under the prosperity pillar will be in four interconnected areas. Yara will work as a catalyst to:
i. Drive digital inclusion and empowerment for farmers and agribusinesses
ii. Enable economic opportunities for women and youth in agriculture
iii. Accelerate growth for Micro, Small and Medium businesses within our communities, and
iv. Continue contributing to food security.
Delivering Solutions-Based Impact
As a pioneer in the crop nutrition industry for over a century, we are aligning with the current developments in the food system by enhancing our interaction with farmers and the broader community.
The YAA Social Impact programme is committed to realizing economic empowerment and prosperity for farmers and MSMEs in Africa & Asia. We will bring knowledge, solutions and networks to our farmers and channels, keeping inclusion and equity front and centre, leveraging technology, inclusive business models and partnerships.
The region will see new jobs, greater participation of women and youth in the economy, vibrant local markets, improved incomes, and healthier lives for our farming communities, deepening trust of our stakeholders.
We realise that farmers needs cannot be addressed in isolation because the distribution channel is our connection to them. The key impact target groups in our Social Impact program are therefore famers and farmer-facing businesses within our distribution channel.
In the first phase, we will focus our investments on seven countries – China, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Tanzania and Thailand.
Our Social Impact Goals and Ambitions
Our ambitions and goals are aligned with the global goals and national development strategies for the priority countries
